Iyengar Yoga - Pregnancy Yoga Course

Fridays 11am - 12.15pm
Next course starts: 20 January

It is essential for a pregnant woman to maintain her physical and mental well being both for her own sake and for the sake of the baby.

Yoga asanas and pranayama are extremely beneficial for the pregnant woman. A course of asanas can be safely practised to ensure a healthy pregnancy and delivery.

In asanas, the uterus is exercised to become strong and to function more efficiently so that delivery can be normal. The proper functioning of the ductless glands is all important and yoga practice helps to bring about this hormonal balance. The practice of asanas also helps to safeguard against miscarriage. A pregnant woman needs good quality blood rich in haemoglobins and for her blood pressure to be normal. The asanas can also help with morning sickness, constipation, swelling, headache and toxaemia, they aid proper digestion and easy breathing.

The practice of pranayama will help to remove fatigue, nervous tension and to eliminate toxins, and to facilitate a natural and easy delivery.

As individual problems and constitutions vary from woman to woman a specific programme can be given for those not wishing to attend normal classes.

For more information or to book a place contact Lucy by email on lucy@yogabase.org.

Classes are £15 drop in or £75 for the 6-week course. Booking is essential.

Next course begins 20 January.
